A maritime threat has been reported involving two incidents of commercial vessels being seized by Iran, contrary to international law. The first was a Marshall Islands-flagged vessel on April 27th in the Gulf of Oman and the second a Panama-flagged vessel on May 3rd in the Strait of Hormuz. These reports have been confirmed. Exercise increased caution when transiting the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman. U.S. commercial vessels operating in these areas should review U.S.

Maritime incidents have been reported in the northern Red Sea, Suez Canal southern anchorage. Specifically in the vicinity of 29-50N 032-34E, approximately 7 nautical miles south of Port Tawfiq, Egypt, on September 8th and 21st, 2022. The nature of the incidents are reported to be unlawful boarding and theft aboard commercial vessels at anchor. Exercise caution when anchoring in this area. This alert will automatically expire on September 30, 2022.
