Mr. Gregory “Jack” Kammerer, a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES), is the Executive Director of the Maritime Administration (MARAD). As the senior career, SES member for MARAD, he provides leadership over the administration and operation of all responsibilities to foster, promote, and develop the maritime industry of the United States. He directly supports the Administrator and Deputy Administrator in the accomplishment of MARAD strategic priorities. 
      
Previously Mr. Kammerer had several senior leader roles in the Department of Veterans Affairs, starting as a Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in 2011. He then served in the Veterans Benefits Administration as the Executive Director of the Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Service with responsibility for vocational rehabilitation and employment assistance for Veterans Nationwide, and as the Executive Director of the Salt Lake City, Utah VA Regional Office. Before joining VA, he served in assignments as an Army Senior Fellow under the office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness and was the Legislative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army. An Army Veteran, Mr. Kammerer had various command and staff assignments as an Infantry Officer until his retirement in 2005. 

In addition to a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy (1984), Mr. Kammerer also has a Masters in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (1993) and a Masters in Military Arts and Science from the US Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas (1995).  He completed the Army Senior Service College 2009-10 as a fellow at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University.
